How to Get to Lindos from Rhodes Town

Bus, car and cruise transfer down the east coast — then the climb from the village to the acropolis.

Updated June 2026 · Acropolis of Lindos Tickets Concierge Team

Lindos sits about 47 km down the east coast of Rhodes from Rhodes Town. The journey has two parts: get to the village, then climb to the acropolis on its cliff. Here are the options for both.

From Rhodes Town to Lindos

By car it's about 50 minutes down the coast road, with car parks on the edge of the car-free village. By bus, frequent KTEL services run from Rhodes Town's main bus station to Lindos in around an hour, dropping you near the village. Many cruise passengers reach Lindos by ship's excursion or a taxi/transfer from Rhodes port; if you come independently, the bus is cheap and reliable.

Whichever way you arrive, you'll finish in or beside the village at the foot of the acropolis cliff.

From the village up to the acropolis

From the village it's a steep 10–20 minute walk up stepped lanes and a stairway to the acropolis gate. The lanes are car-free and lined with shops; the final stretch is open and sunny. Wear sturdy shoes, bring water and a hat, and take it at your own pace — there's little shade until you're inside.

There's no need to fix an arrival time: your ticket is reserved for the date you choose, so climb whenever suits your day.

Making a day of it

Lindos rewards a half-day at least. Pair the acropolis with a wander through the white village and its captains' houses, and a swim at St Paul's Bay, the near-enclosed cove round the headland. Doing the climb early and the village and beach later keeps you ahead of the cruise crowds and the midday heat.
