The Acropolis and Lindos Village: How to Plan the Perfect Day

The clifftop temple, the white car-free village and St Paul's Bay — and the order that beats the heat and the crowds.

Updated June 2026 · Acropolis of Lindos Tickets Concierge Team

Lindos is three sights in one compact, car-free corner of Rhodes: the ancient acropolis on its cliff, the whitewashed village beneath it, and the swimming cove of St Paul's Bay round the headland. A flexible dated ticket makes the day easy to plan around the heat and the crowds.

The white village

Below the acropolis, Lindos village is a maze of whitewashed, car-free lanes, with grand medieval 'captains' houses' built by the island's sea-captains, pebble-mosaic courtyards, and shops and tavernas. It's a sight in its own right and the place to eat, shop and shelter from the midday sun between the climb and a swim.

The best order to do it

Climb to the acropolis first thing, while it's cool and before the cruise groups arrive, then come down into the village for a late breakfast or lunch and explore the lanes in the shade. Save St Paul's Bay — the near-enclosed cove round the headland — for the hot middle of the day, when a swim is most welcome.

Because your acropolis ticket is dated, not timed, you're free to fit it around the village and the beach however the day and the weather suggest.

Fitting it into a Rhodes trip

Lindos is an easy day from Rhodes Town (about 50 minutes) and the headline stop of most Rhodes itineraries and cruise calls. If you have longer on the island, pair it with the medieval Old Town of Rhodes and the Palace of the Grand Master for a complete ancient-and-medieval picture of the island.

Frequently asked

Can I see the acropolis, village and bay in one day?

Easily — most visitors climb the acropolis in the morning, explore the village over lunch, and swim at St Paul's Bay in the afternoon.

Is the village included in my ticket?

The village and St Paul's Bay are free to wander and swim; your ticket covers the Acropolis of Lindos itself.

Which should I do first?

The acropolis early, to beat the heat and the cruise crowds, then the village and the beach as the day warms up.

How long do I need for the whole thing?

A half-day is comfortable; a full day lets you swim, eat and explore the village at a relaxed pace.
